The Most Extreme Man In The Church by Anna Wood

   Posted by: Holly Dye

The most extreme man in the church today is the man is the one who stands on God’s Word alone.

He is the “voice crying in the wilderness” of modern churchanity.

It is he who dares to ask not, ”Is this okay? Can we “get away with it”?”, but “Is this honoring to God Almighty?”

Here is one who refuses to engage in frivolity while the world slides to hell.

Here is the man who isn’t afraid to stand before men and be laughed at; he is afraid only of standing before God and being condemned.

He stands for truth in a time of compromise.

He constantly searches out the Word of God and demands a “thus saith the Lord” in a time of me-centered, watered-down, cotton candy teachings.

Jesus Wasn’t Such A “Nice” Guy by Anna Wood

   Posted by: Holly Dye

I’ve been hearing many warm and fuzzy things about Jesus. It would seem that, to some, He is nothing but a cuddly stuffed animal with some special abilities thrown in: comfortable, warm, able to keep us safe. To others, He’s like a doting Grandpa: forgetful of what we’ve done wrong, but remembering that He wants to make us happy (and seeking to do so by passing out pretty things that sparkle a lot and bring the happiness we seek). If we don’t know the Real Jesus, we get confused; worse, we spread forth our confusion.

Things that should never be uttered, have been. They go along the lines of:

“Jesus is like a cup of coffee: He makes me happy, fills me up and makes me warm all over.”

Or…”Jesus just wants us to be nice to each other and to be happy.”

Or, “Jesus said, “Judge not,” so stop judging me.”

Well, Jesus did say, “Judge not” but it didn’t (and doesn’t) mean what so many take it to mean today. While we are at it, Jesus also never said that He just wants us to be happy (or to be nice). Holy and truthful, yes; nice? No.

Following All The Way by Anna Wood

   Posted by: Holly Dye

“There are plenty to follow our Lord half-way but not the other half. They will give up possessions, friends and honors but it touches them too closely to disown themselves.”-Meister Eckhart

Are you following God’s faintest whisper? Can He trust you to obey no matter how much He asks of you? Does He know that here is one, who, though others may falter and fall, will stand secure?

A person like that only comes along once in a while. Having looked at the world and all it has to offer, they turn away, not in resignation but in disgust. They don’t want it–not any of it. Their lot has been completely cast in with God.

They walk, stumbling and falling sometimes as we all do but, instead of staying fallen, they get back up and seeking the Lord’s help, they continue on their journey towards holiness and Home. Read the rest of this entry »

A Consuming Fire by Anna Wood

   Posted by: Holly Dye

Deuteronomy 4: 24, “For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.”

Wildfires sweep across plains and through great forests devouring everything in sight. Man-made or God-made, all that is in the path of the fire catches fire and burns up: trees, animals, plants, humans, houses…the fire consumes it all leaving nothing but ashes in its path.

Hebrews 12: 29, “For our God is a consuming fire.”

God is love and He wants me to be happy.

Jesus is cool, you know? He’s my home-boy.

The big man in the sky is watching out for me.

JC is cool man! Read the rest of this entry »

Jesus: The Lion Of Judah by Anna Wood

   Posted by: Holly Dye

Hosea 5: 4, “For I will be unto Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Judah: I, even I, will tear and go away; I will take away and none shall rescue him.”

Jesus isn’t just the “meek and mild” Savior that many imagine Him to be.

He is the Lion of Judah, and, as such, He shares some of the lions traits:

He powerful and strong; unrelenting and uncontrollable. He is harsh and outspoken when it comes to God’s Truth. He is prone to righteous anger when God’s interests are at stake. He is severe with those who would play at Christianity.

Jesus expects, no, demands, that He be absolutely first in your life. It is necessary, in the end, that He be the ONLY thing that matters to you. If you had to choose between Jesus and your very life, Jesus and your family, Jesus and your personal happiness and comfort, Jesus and your reputation, Jesus and your job, Jesus and your freedom…you must choose Him.

Jesus Is Altogether Worthy by Anna Wood

   Posted by: Holly Dye

We’re awash in things wearing the name “Christian”…

We have “Christian” magazines, “Christian” books, “Christian” bookstores, “Christian” radio stations, “Christian” television stations, “Christian” mugs,  “Christian“ candies, “Christian” t-shirts…

We have “Christian” speakers, “Christian” writers, “Christian” talk-show hosts, “Christian” singers…

We can buy “Christian” books on everything from cleaning your house to saving for retirement…

We can join together and support the latest “Christian” politician…

We can  join a “Christian” website and debate and discuss everything from home schooling to feminism…

We’re overflowing in “Christian” merchandise, organizations and support-groups.
We’ve turned the One we follow into a merchandising ploy.
We’ve forgotten the One by Whom we were created, for Whom we exist and by Whom we were saved: Christ.
We wear His name but we don’t know what it means to be His.
We come to “worship” Him on Sunday’s but most of the week hardly give Him a thought.
We’ve sat back while the nation pushed Him out of our schools and now we’ve willingly pushed Him out of our homes and churches.
It’s time for action.

Abusing Grace by Anna Wood

   Posted by: admin

The church in America, as a whole, is more interested in fitting into the world than converting the world. We have become cowards. Those who stand up and declare God‘s ways will find themselves at odds with the very ones who should be supporting them.

The church is failing to live up to all of its holy potential and take hold of all of the spiritual blessings available to her because we are failing to do three things: study God’s Word with an eye towards doing His will, pray that God’s will is done in all ways (and mean it) and live a life of obedience. To be holy we must earnestly be pursuing all three.

The modern church is a dangerous blend of worldliness and godliness that is pleasing neither to the Lord nor to the world. Christians are to live separate and apart from the world. That concept is scorned today. Those whose lives stand out as different from those around them are laughed at–by those in the church. Those who stand up and condemn sin and worldliness are shunned–by their fellow church members.
